An elderly Boca Raton man finally stepped forward Monday to claim the $10 million Lotto jackpot from a drawing last week, but refused to talk to the press, Florida Lottery officials said.

Lotto officials said Perry Orens, 77, was refusing to discuss his victory with the press. Orens bought his lucky ticket from a Publix supermarket at 21230 St. Andrews Blvd., near Town Center Mall, prior to last Wednesday’s drawing.

“He claimed the money and asked the newspapers to mind their own business,” said Jacqueline Barreiros, lottery spokeswoman. “It was pretty cut and dried.”

New Yorkers are betting that the year of the pope's birth and time of his death will bring them fortune.

So many New York Lottery Win 4 players have bet the combination of 1-9-2-0, the year of the pope's birth, that the number sold out for tonight's drawings and both of yesterday's drawings.

Unlike Lotto, in which winners split a pot, Win 4 and Numbers guarantee fixed payouts to each winner - $5,000 for an exact match. The lottery agency caps potential winnings at $5 million, so numbers sell out, spokeswoman Jennifer Mauer said.

More than 1,000 people lined up to claim their lottery prize after a newspaper claimed the numbers were a mistake.

The New York Daily News says the number 13 was printed by mistake. The number 12 was supposed to be printed instead.

The small mistake means many people thought they'd won $100,000 on the scratch and match game.

Several had already made plans for the money.

The newspaper says it's going to conduct a full investigation, but it's not paying out any money.
