A lucky real estate agent from Windsor won $4.6 million in last week’s Lotto 649 draw. Diane Chauvin, who grew up in a public housing, works as a real estate agent and plans to continue working despite this big prize. Her husband, Joel, has a job at Enwin Utilities and will keep working too.

“I know what it's like to be poor. Now I know what it's like to be rich,” Diane said at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation offices in Toronto, where she received the cheque. “It's important to keep grounded,” Chauvin added. “It's a lot of money.”

When asked about how she would spend the money, Diane explained that she has two children she would like to send to the university and her 72-year-old mother for whom she wants to ensure a comfortable life. She also plans to give financial help to her two sisters. “I'd like to help my family and my community,” Diane said.

The Chauvin family will also acquire a Cadillac and a new GMC Denali and after that, a house on the water. Diane has been playing lotto almost every week for the past 20 years and this is the first time she wins an important prize. “It's a good feeling when you win.”
