A man named Richard Furness Roberts claimed the $110 million SuperLotto jackpot. He presented the ticket he bought at a South Pasadena liquor store to Lottery officials but refused to offer an official press conference or further details about his life.

Lottery officials explained that they had not been authorized to release the name of the city the lucky winner is from. “This is kind of a different situation for us, a very strange situation”, Catherine Doyle Johnston, Lottery spokeswoman, said.

Johnston explained that she tried to persuade Roberts to hold a press conference but he replied that he would do his own press. “It was odd. It is relatively unusual for a winner not to participate in scheduled lottery events — although it isn't unheard of”, Johnston finished.

Robert’s jackpot is the largest California has seen in four years and the sixth largest in the history of the state.
