Kevin Green was working, driving a forklift, when he heard that North Dakota Powerball had sold a ticket worth $1 million. He didn’t pay attention to the news until he heard that the ticket had been sold at the store he usually buys his tickets.

After checking the other 25 tickets he had bought he got to the winning one. He claimed the prize last Tuesday. This prize is the biggest one granted since North Dakota Lottery started selling Powerball tickets two years ago.

Green got his check for the amount of $694,600 (after taxes). He said it’s his intention to pay off his pickup and his daughter’s pickup, besides helping her with college, and he is also planning to save money for his retirement. However, he intends to keep working at the same place he is working now.
He hold on to his ticket for five days before he claimed it. Green said he usually doesn’t buy that many tickets but that day he sensed something.

His Powerball number was number 34. If it would had been 37, he would have won the Powerball jackpot which was $75 million. "It does kind of frustrate you when you're that close to the Powerball, you know," Green said. "But I'm happy with what I got."
